Please download this flyer if you are interested in ordering a lunch for your child. The "bento" lunch is a Japanese-style lunch and delivered each day. The lunch is offered on a weekly basis, and parents must sign up for each week at a time, not daily. The cost for the lunch program is ¥250 for a preschool/lower elementary size lunch, or ¥300 for an upper elementary/middle school size lunch.
*Students must bring their own chopsticks/fork/spoon.
Application Process
Participants for all sessions must submit a completed application form. Sessions 1 & 2 are intended for current NIS students or students who are studying in an international school and not currently enrolled in the Japanese school system. Applicants for Sessions 3 & 4 are open to students who have a basic understanding of English. Native Japanese speaking students must be either a returnee, bi-cultural/dual national chidren, or a student studying within an English language curriculum. All other applicants will be evaluated and admitted based on availability and English ability, and the diversity of participants. Space limitations also may apply.
NOTE on English Ability: The language of instruction for the NIS Summer Program is English and students are expected to be able to communicate and participate fully in English. Students are expected to use the common language of English at all times while on the NIS campus, and may be asked to withdraw from the program (or denied enrollment) if it is deemed that the English level of the student does not qualify for full participation.
Cancellations
The NIS Summer Program fees must be paid in advance, preferably via bank wire-transfer, by the deadline for each session. In the event that a family must cancel enrollment for their child, refunds will be made (minus any bank handling or wire-transfer fees) as long as the cancellation is made prior to the start of the session. Refunds will not be made, however, in cases of illness, or if a child must be dismissed due to disciplinary reasons.
Other Information
- All fees must be paid in full by the Friday BEFORE each session.
- Students may apply for one, wo, three, or all four sessions!
